THE ANIMALS OBSERVATORY: THE FINCH COLLECTION AW16

Oddly fascinating and always spot on with her collections Laia Aguilar has done it once again. The AW16-17 collection from The animals Observatory is perfection. From the print, to the cut, to the quirky little details hiding everywhere, we love every single bit of The Finch Collection - a capsule collection in which designer and co-founder of TAO, Laia Aguilar, has been inspired by The Finch College, an art school founded in the 90s located in Manhattan's Upper East Side.

This inspiring new collection swooshes us back to a 1970s New York. Madison Avenue and Park Avenue. The Finch College art school provided Laia Aguilar with a starting point from where patterns and colours from a New York that is distant yet close by grew. Lava red, bright navy blue and off-white in patterns with a retro feel.

The Animals Observatory is the result of a love at first sight scenario between two people, Laia Aguilar and Jan Andreu. Having been a long-time admirer of Laia Aguilar’s work during her time as creative director for Bobo Choses, Jan Andreu proposed they join forces to found a new fashion brand for children and since then magic keeps happening.

The Animals Observatory provides us with children's clothes that we never even knew we had always wished for. The collections has a remarkable, artistic touch, with a delicate and special mix and match of interesting textures and colours, that makes the whole collection feel and look like a wearable piece of art.

Below you'll the ETMag selection of musthaves from this unique collection and don't miss out on the beautiful video to go with it: The Story of a Statue.
