Tell us your story? Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Manon de Jong and I’m an illustrator. I studied illustration at the art academy and started the label Monann a year ago. I’m selling postcards and prints of my illustrations, work for a variety of clients and just finished illustrating a children’s book.

I love to work with collage. I have drawers filled with scraps of paper and different patterns I collected over the years and can spend hours making combinations and playing with it. I have done this for many years and this is where my love for illustration started. At the art academy I started experimenting with drawing and painting and now I combine all these things in my work.

I’m mostly inspired by everyday life, by the beauty in everyday moments.

What makes you very happy?
When I’m working I’m constantly searching for the right combinations of patterns and colours in my drawings. Sometimes it’s a struggle but the moment when all these different elements come together and look just right to me, makes me very happy.

What are your future ambitions professionally?
I want to create a line of illustrated products for my label and would love to work on some inspiring collaborations in the future.
