Oh,we've had the first frosty mornings this week here in Finland! I've rushed out of the door almost every morning to admire it. There's just something magical in frost, especially on these first ones - everything glistens and shines so beautifully and even the ugliest places turn into amazing wonderlands.
We decided to celebrate the first frost and the change of the season with a yummy apple bake. Apple picking on a crispy frosty morning was quite something,we loved it!
Here's the recipe for you - it's super easy and super delicious!
But the measures are "about" as I don't always measure everything perfectly :)
Apple bake with oat crumble
5 - 10 apples (we used about 8 small ones)
120 g butter
1 tsp cinnamon
1,5 dl brown sugar
4 dl oatmeal
1 dl wheat flour
Chop the peeled apples onto an oven-safe pan and sprinkle cinnamon on top of them. Melt the butter, add the rest ingredients into it and spread it on top of the chopped apples.
Bake in 200 °C in the lower level about 20-30 minutes.
Serve it with vanilla ice-cream,vanilla sauce or like we did, with whipped cream :)
We found apples - bit icy but still good :)
The girls did almost everything again - Elli mixed the dry ingredients with melted butter and Peppi chopped the apples.
She wanted to eat one right away when we got back inside after picking the apples :)
