Anja Kroencke - Designer & Illustrator.
Lives with husband and two daugthers in New York City. Born and raised in Vienna, Austria.
Anja is the first illustrator to take the banner space gallery that we have introduced with our fancy new website. We asked Anja to interpret the theme of our current issue, Tales of Midsummer and the result is for you to enjoy the next few weeks, when you visit us online.
Anja's style is feminine, graphic and delicate and we love her take on the midsummer theme.
Here's a little bit more on Anja and her work as a professional illustrator:
"I've been drawing since I was a little kid, it always was and still is my favorite thing to do. I went to an art & textile school in vienna but after graduating I decided to do graphic design and worked as an art director in various agencies and design studios for a couple of years. After I moved to NYC I rekindled my passion for drawing and discovered that some people do it professionally. I was very fortunate to find an agent quite quickly and went from doing it part time while having a full time advertising job to full time career within 6 months and I've been doing it ever since."
Anja on Midsummer:
Working on the theme of Midsummer for the Enfants Terribles Gallery, I was sent straight back to my childhood. My mother is from Copenhagen so the Nordic culture is very much instilled in me and dear to my heart despite having been raised in Vienna. Midsummer and childhood to me is riding on my bike alone through wide fields and undiscovered roads for hours.
We asked Anja to show us some pieces that captures the essence of her work:
